What is a good response to “thank you”?

I make it a point to never say “no problem”. It begs questions:

  • “Was there a problem in the first place?”
  • “Was it an inconvenience for you to help me?”

Alternatives to “no problem” that I like to use:

  • “Sure thing”: neutral cheery phrase.
  • “My pleasure!”: genuinely kind phrase.

“np” as an abbreviation is more acceptable to me than “no problem”, but I still choose not to use it.
